The Lancashire Day Proclamation was read out throughout the County of Lancashire and in many places where Lancastrians are living in exile.

Members of the Friends of Real Lancashire will be distributing leaflets about Lancashire Day and Warrington’s Lancastrian heritage to shoppers in the town centre.

Tuesday 27th November - Lancashire Day

Flying Shuttle the Official Beer of Lancashire Day

Thwaites Brewery is celebrating two hundred years of brewing excellence this year and have produced “Flying Shuttle” as a tribute to the Lancashire Cotton Industry. The invention of the “Flying Shuttle” enabled workers to weave faster and transformed textile making into an industry. As production increased so did workers thirst for Thwaites Ales! Evocative of the era, this well balanced, lightly hopped, nutty ale is perfectly crafted to restore vigour after a hard days work. Bottled “Flying Shuttle” will also be on sale at Booth’s supermarkets from the middle of September.

Thwaites are planning to involve some two hundred of their pubs and free houses in the celebration of Lancashire Day with “Flying Shuttle” and food supplied by Wallings (Sausages & Burgers), Sandhams (Cheese) and Hollands (Hot Pot) and there will be a Lancashire Quiz.

West Lancashire Heritage Association - Viking Blood - The Results
A lecture on the results of investigations carried out on the Wirral and in West Lancashire into the influence of the Vikings on the people and places of the area by:-

Mark Jopling - Professor of Genetics at the University of Leicester
Steve Harding - Professor of Bioscience at the University of Nottingham

The Vikings arrived in the area in 902 and in 2001 the BBC launched the series “Blood of the Vikings”. As part of the series 2000 men were tested to see if they had genetic material comparable to men in the Viking homelands of Norway and Denmark.

Littleborough
The Lancashire night celebrations will start at 5.30pm and will incorporate the switching on of Littleborough’s Christmas lights, by the Mayor of Rochdale, councillor Peter Evans at 6.30pm. The 'proclamation will be read by Gordon Monks, followed by Morris dancers, brass bands, folk singers/artistes and hopefully some form of street entertainers.
The local pubs/eateries will be serving traditional food (pie & peas etc).

Sidmouth and District Lancastrian Association will be holding a Lancashire Lunch at the Tumbling Wier Hotel, Ottery St Mary, Devon.

Boundary event
For a number of years we have marked Lancashire Day with a joint lunch with the Saddleworth White Rose Society at a pub close to the Lancashire/Yorkshire border. This year we are planning to hold an event close to the Lancashire/Cheshire border in the Warrington area.
